AUTOMATED WOODWORKS

Building the CNC Router

The frame it self is constructed from 14 ga 2x2 steel tube.

The cross braces are 2x2 steel angle. I wish I had of put some cross braces from table to legs and another set for a shelf. This would allow an area for my stock wood and such.

WOW Turned out great. The paint is a brand of krylon from lowes. The blue just made it look industrial quality.

The rails for the X and Y axises have been added. All of my rails were bought at a local salvage yard. If you look in your area you might be able to find great deals also. All rails and trucks were bought for $175.00.

This took me a few to figure out how I wanted it to be. I came up with the idea that the X axis Belt and the Y axis stepper + pulleys could be mounted to this plate. Turned out very good I think.

Close up of the left side.

Both sides now are completed. All I need to do is add the stepper mount for the Y axis and The bottom clamp holder for the X axis.

The Y axis stepper mount and pulley shaft also turned out great.

This is the shop supervisor. One great thing about this supervisor he also doubles as the shop GOFER. I bet none of you have ever had a supervisor to do this for you before huh!!!

I was trying to get an idea of where to put the drive shaft for the X axis belting.

Found a old broom handle for a test of the Drive shaft. ( I thought it was an old broom handle until I got it across the back of my head. SORRY HONEY, Ill have to buy you a new handle :)

Home made X axis belt clamps. I have to thank my Uncle for the clamps. He makes and sells them on his website.

www.ecmarsh.com Just look for the router link.

Alittle out of order but here is the starting of the Z axis.

Good close up of the z axis with trucks.

Looking Good huh .

Better view of the z axis.

Here is a close up picture of the Z axis with the stepper and pullies installed. Notice the pulley on the stepper is larger than the one on the screw.

Y axis drive clamps and belting.

Well I ran out of photos. Here is the finnished product. I have some more photos on a cd. Just got to find the dang things.
